PetPals is an all-in-one mobile app designed to simplify pet care for busy pet owners by offering shopping, personalized product recommendations, services like grooming, training, and daycare, as well as a customizable pet profile to manage appointments.

I contributed to the development of illustrations to give the app a unique and personalized look, along with designing the brand colours, typography, logo, and design guidelines to ensure a consistent visual identity.

The app targets dog and cat owners who are looking for a convenient solution to find the right toys, food, and care for their furry friends—all in one place.

Creative Process

This project starts by imagining a new app for pet parents where they can find all they need, included:

  • Shopping
  • Product recommendations
  • Services (grooming, training & daycare)
  • Personalized pet profile where they can manage all their appointments

With research and feedback from the target audience we started to craft style tiles and analyze what different apps for pets where doing so we could stand out.

Illustrations

The use of cat and dog illustrations throughout the PetPals app serves two key purposes. First, it helps users emotionally connect with the app by allowing them to identify with their own pets.

Second, these illustrations contribute to a more authentic and unique app aesthetic. Unlike generic stock images, custom illustrations establish a distinct visual identity that sets PetPals apart from other pet-related apps.

This creative approach enhances brand recognition and makes the app feel more playful, friendly, and memorable, aligning with the joy and companionship pets bring to their owners.

Seeing familiar and relatable pet illustrations creates a sense of warmth and personalization, making the experience feel more engaging and welcoming. This visual connection reinforces the idea that the app is designed specifically for pet lovers and their furry companions.
