Paulina Arbeláez - Writer

In collaboration with Paulina Arbeláez, who wrote a short book as her final project for university, we aim to illustrate the book and create a fully illustrated book.

The book is primarily about grief, is an intimate story of love, loss, and the transformation of pain. Through memories and farewells, the author turns absence into a tribute to life and unwavering love.

As the illustrator, my goal was to create an environment that guides the reader through the emotional journey of the story.

Creative Process

Since the book was based on a true story, I wanted to do more than just read what Paulina had written—I also wanted to speak with the person who inspired the story.

My goal was to create illustrations that not only complemented the text but also captured the depth, connection, and meaning of the journey being told.

Final Outcome

The final result of this project is a meaningful story that seamlessly blends with the illustrations. It includes small, thoughtful details dedicated to the person who inspired it while still resonating with a broader audience.

These elements enhance the storytelling, making the book both compelling and immersive.

Although the book was originally written in Spanish, I’ve also translated it into English with the hope of reaching a broader audience and allowing more people to experience and enjoy it.
